max payne/ clone cd back will not play :(

i 've backed up many sd2 protected games, most work, some would struggle and eventually work, but *all* my back -ups would work.
but max payne appears to be the exception, using the official patch and clonecd and betablocker, i cannot ####t the game. it either freezes at the max payne picture or asks for the real max payne cd .

the new patch is supposed to have a new/tougher version of safedsic 2.

my dvd/cd re-writer has had some problems with the safedisc2 games i have backed up, but it *has* managed to play them.
i know that securom/2 protected games will not work in my pc, but does anyone know what they have done with this max payne safedisc 2 protected game.

btw did anyone see voodooextereme yesterday, remedey were gloating about cdclone and it's lack off success. they also said tough poo to the 1% of pple who have bought this game and cannot play it due to their un-compatilbe cd drive ?

I successfully copied that game by at first right-clicking on the cd drive(with maxpayne in it!)and adding it to a winrar archive(choosing best compression) then getting the NO-CD patch, then i burned it with easy cd creator on a 650mb cd,with was cutting it fine as the disc had 2 megs left! But it works,i know i probably isnt the best way how to go around it but every game i do i do it that way,it is garuanteed to work!Hope it helps..
Many thnx..
Pysche.

Jimmy, Talonsoft also said my Samsung 612 CD drive would not play Max Payne BUT the same PC running Windows XP RC1 runs the game from the same CD drive with no problems.

And, I have no problems otherwise with this drive when running a wide variety of games. A full install of Max Payne under Windows Me displays only the Max Payne logo from the CD drive and then just sits there with no other activity.

After providing gobs of information to Talonsoft, I get the comment "612 does not play games" ... wow! what a lousy cop-out and cruddy support ... I am pretty sure that the game's attempt at stronger copy protection prevents this game from running on my CD drive ... but, Talonsoft will not even comment on this problem.

So, after much effort to get support, I had to fall back on "nocd" from Game Copy World to get Max Payne to run on my Windows Me PC system.

Thanks for comments, links, or suggestions for this "drive" problem.

new version of sd2 = combo dvd re=writers :(

i have un-installed max payne 1.01 and gone back to the original cd release. and using a back-up i re-installed mp, and it ####ted up ok, using the back-up i will not be using the 1.01 patch

the new version of safedisc2 is meant to have secrurom type of atip detection, which my combo drive has never been able to use back-up cd's.
it now seems the latest max payne has this tougher version which uses atip, a method only used with the securom protection. this seems like mana from heaven for macrovison.

My copy worked fine using clonecd. I ticked the 2 read subchannel data boxs and also ticked fast error skip.
I used my writer (plextor) to read and write the game.
I use the settings above to backup all games and just about all my backups work.

anyone of you tried copying the game and included a no cd crack with it, so that the game doesnt need the disc.
