Backing Up Resident Evil 3 (UK-PAL) Problems??

Hello,
I am trying to back up resident Evil 3 (UK-PAL) and have followed the correct procedure with the patching ppf o matic and cdr win (the correct resident evil 3 patch). I can back up other games ok with cdrwin fine.

When i try and play the game it boots the paradox introw saying that this game has been patched by paradox etc. I then press start and it hangs at the begginning of the game where it said "this game contains blood etc). Nothing happens from then??

I use TDK reflex cds?

Any ideas. I have already made 2 coasters???

Thanking you in advance,

The game did exactly the same thing for me --- i think the problem lies in where u got hold of the CD in the first place ...

Sometimes, ***video rental shops***, especially larger ones like blockbuster, buy different versions of the game compared to those that you would buy in the shops, well, so i have been told ...

Therefore when u patch the game with the UK pal patch it conks out when the copyright protection kicks in on the gore and violence screen. I don' really know much about video rental stores, i was just reading the help files for PPF-O-Matic and it had some info on rental games in there.

Of course, if this is a copy from a shop then it should work, just check that it is the actual UK PAL version and not some other country PAL version (Although u would probably notice if u were playing the game in french )

CRAP!
No game developer is going to produce a special protected version for ANY game shop.

Then why would Paradox bother to mention it in the help files of the PPF-O-MATIC hmm? I'm only going by what i have read. Read the help files and see for yourself ... like i said, i don't know where video shops get their games from, they may be non UK, i dunno ...

But it has been the case, that quite a few times i have been able to copy a retail version of a game, but not copy the same game from a video shop, which seems kinda weird to me ...

Just to back my point further i managed to find the PPF-O-MATIC help text file and have copied the passage about how Video Rental games can be different to retail games, check this out:

------------------------------------------------

2nd. Warning:
"The binfile does not seem to be the same one this PPF-Patch was made of!
CONTINUE? (Suggestion: NO!)"

If you see this warning you have a serious problem! the binfile that
you want to patch was NOT identified to be the right binfile for
the PPF-Patch you are using! - It's very very likely that you will
burn a nice coaster if you continue! Get the right version of the
game you are trying to patch. Sometimes a RENTAL/STORE/BETA version can cause this problem! If you ask me.. i would NOT continue to patch this binfile!!!

------------------------------------------------

correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't the word RENTAL crop up somewhere in that passage . Like i said i dunno how the heck rental games would be any different to the games u buy in the shop, but from what Paradox say it seems like they could well be ...

I dunno whether this is true, but i'm sure i'm not the only one to experience problems with video rental games that create .bin files that are a different size to those that have been purchased from a shop. Its weird but i don't know why it is ...

Who believes anything Paradox says.
After all they also claim to have made 100% working patches for Spyro 3 and other games.
Look at it logically, when a game manufacturer produces a run of several 100's of thousands of game cds do you really think they are going to sit down and recode a game for a run of a few hundred or so for some rental shop?
Highly unlikely and very unprofitable.

Yeah, i have to admit i was thinking that, but how do u explain that games from video shops (even new ones that aren't scratched to death) don't work with patches and games from retail shops do? don't u think thats just a little weird?

I don't really care to be honest, if one disc doesn't work, then just go find another, thats my advice 8)

I have backed up the rental version of this game with no problems using the paradox crack only patch (file name pdx-r3uc.zip).

Most likely your problem is that you copied the game to your hard drive at a fast speed and corrupted the image, i would recommend that you copy the orignal to your HD again at 1x speed to make sure that it does not get corrupted again.

Anyways hope this helps.
