the best quality compression?

right now im using clone dvd to rip and then burn my backups. The program works just fine and the quality is still really decent eventhough i am backing up dvd9 to dvd5 with all the extras. I usually take out other languages and and subtitles to free up space on the dvd-r for the movie. I have used clone dvd and also dvd shrink to rip the movie to my comp and both of the programs gave me about the same compression/picture quality. My question is, is there any programs besides these two that might give me a "better quality" backup? I heard a lot of mixed reviews on dvd x copy but if anyone has any insight on this please help out.
