Is it a .CDI d/l file or r u trying to copy a backed up game?

Instead of making a bin create a .CDI and then follow the instructions below-

If it's now a CDI image follow this........(sports jam)
Put the PPF patch file into a directory, open up a dos window and go to that directory were the patch file is. eg C:\temp

Type dir in the dos window and the patch file will be listed with a different name eg S-je~ch.ppf (remember this new name)
Then put the .cdi image and the applyppf.exe also into C:\temp with the patch file.
So in C:\temp u should have S-jam image.cdi/applyppf.exe and the sjech.ppf (patch file)

Then in the same dos window type APPLYPPF.EXE E-Sjam.cdi (new name.ppf that the dir command gave u) eg S-je~ch.ppf and hit enter.

Try this if still no luck post back!!!!!!!!
