PS2 Case Mod
I just finished this tonight. It is my V7 PS2 case mod. I cut out the PS2 on the top of the case with a dremel, then filled the cuts with clear epoxy then back lit it with EL wire. I hooked up the inverter for the EL wire directly to the 12V on the PSU so even if the PS2 in standby the light is still on, soon I will hook up a switch to be able to turn it off and maybe even a 555 timer to make it strobe. The damn epoxy took over 24 hours to harden and its still kind of tacky to the touch but I couldn’t wait to hook it up and see what it looked like. The picture was taken in low light with no flash so the light would stand out better, that’s why it looks kind of bad.

I picked up some bright blue LED keychain lights at the local dollar store and I was trying to think of a cool mod to do with them. I was thinking of lighting up the front air vents. A couple of them could probably have replaced your EL Wire and they don’t need an inverter.
Each light was running on two 3V lithium batteries inside. Just hook two LED’s in series and run off the 12V, a $2 Mod! Either that or put some under my brother inlaw’s car, $8 neon kit! |

Thats beautiful and unique, since I haven't seen many people modding their playstation 2's visual.
Its a popular fad with Xbox(s) right now.

I'm getting to do a case mod on mine. Anyone know where to get some acid etching material for Lexan?

@ihaveanosebleed I did think about using LED's but once I cut open the case and saw that I had less then an 1/8th inch between the bottom of the case and the top of the DVD Rom I went with the EL wire. Also I thought it would be cool to use the EL wire because it gives off a different light then LED's. It glows, more then it shines if this makes any sense. Also the inverter was no big deal because its dimensions are only 1/2X3/4X1/2 and was very easily mounted to the PSU its self as the PSU has a lot of empty space as you know. Then I have the wires run up to the top of the case through the area where the A/C wires feed the PSU with a connector that can be disconnected when I want to take the top off for easy disassembly. I'm still thinking of your idea too, putting LED's in the grill area would look cool also I think.
