Strange San Andreas Problem

ok this is really wierd.

i have been playing it for months, havent installed anything that could of buggerd it up,but as from 2 days ago,i double click my shortcut and nothing happens..same for vice city and same for gta 3.
every other game on my pc works perfect.
i have tried every single crack in gcw database and everyone from ***,and nothing happens.
i reinstall all 3 games about 20 times, got san andreas working once after using the patch fx thing at gcw,but it would not find my saves no matter were tehy were, however as soon as i rebooted..it wouldnt start again.
so again i reinstalled (of course made a entire back up of the install folder, incase the cracks did not work) and still the same stuff,i just double click any of these 3 games exe files, and the xp egg timer pops up for a second, then nothing.

i really dont want to reformat 1tb worth of games, programs etc as it will take me for ever to reinstall everything.

i only use trusted well known programs like alcohol, and all the microsoft proggys like office, auto route and others.

i do a trend micro virus (online) scan every night, also a avg virus scan and nothing.
also i do spyware checks and find nothing using various programs, every other day.
my pc is defragged,up to date drivers.

gta 3 and vice city works with the original disc. san andreas does not.
im still using version 1.0 not 1.1.
the original disc is in pristine condition with no smears,scratchs..and has only ever entered my pc 3 times up until yesterday.

i also emailed the support addy for san andreas 2 days ago.havent recieved a reply as of yet.

what do i do?
the mini image does nothing either.

just to add,i have done about 100 google searchs on ths matter, and i have found atleast 30 people posting on various forums about this problem, and teh best advice i have seen was to run it in 98/me compatiability mode, which for me does nothing.

i also read on a forum that it is some thing that installs with san adreas that kills the game unless you update it.
so ill try that next.

i suppose that is my only option.

since this only happend 2 days ago..
this is what i have installed in the last 2 days.
fahrenheit,dawn of war,toca ace driver 2 uninstall.
no modding or xp skinning ever..and the only other thing i have done accept for playing fahrenheit in the last 2 days is burn off a few back ups with alcohol 120% that i had sitting on my hard drive for months.

EDIT: i updated to 1.01 (tested disc and image) and still getting the same thing.

Sorry, this is not a general game support forum! Still, you could try FileMon and RegMon from http://www.sysinternals.com to see what files and registry entries the game accesses before crashing back to the desktop. That should help you as well as the official tech support guys. Good luck!

i just did a reinstall and the game does run from disc, just take a little while to start.
its definitly a problem with me adding a crack or using a mini image.
like i said it worked fine until 2 days ago,and now its just messed up litrally on its own.

i did have a problem with my soundblaster sound card when it first was released, then i switched to my ac'97 7.1 on board card, and it worked fine, despite what is said in the simular thread like this.

but as a test i reverted back to the soundblaster and still had the same issue.

so i dont believe it personally but do you think there is any substance behind what i read at thos gta forums about there being a auto update feature in san andreas for teh protection, that kills teh game unless you update?

as i updated anyway and no cracks or mini images,or self made mini images would do anything.

But try the first option first.
no i have a 1tb (2x500gb) hard drive..in which i have every music cd i own backed up on(500+),almost every dvd i own (400 of them),50-60 pc games installed that i own,and made into iso's sitting on my hard disk also, iso's i have made of my psx games, plenty of programs,400 karaoke cdg's as i am a dj and use my drive in my laptop..so nothing is unpossible,it just depends on how much you use your pc,and how much stuff you want to back up.
i dont fancy buying that much blank media and wasting time burning off 1tb of cd's and dvd's..so they are all backed up on my drive.

can i ask why you feel the need to constantly accuse or intergate people of using warez? can you prove to me you dont? i cant prove to you i dont, but i can tell you i do not,so please stop asking me the same questions and making assumptions every time i post a question.

i have given you no clue that i am thieving from the internet,so you should have no reason to assume, unless you enjoy seeing the banned sign under peoples names.

i noticed in another thread you are slagging of people who shout 'warez' at every corner, when your mate morg was in the firing line.
so how about practise what you preach,as it seems to be you who does it more than any.

and that goes to you and you only dabhand,i dont feel like you really have the power to interigate me,nomore than i have of you.
i do appreciate it when you answer my questions, but i am not breaking the rules,so please stop spamming the same sort of things.

i will try some new sound drivers, maybe windows update gave me some bad ones and i didnt notice it. ill try the gigabyte site (for my n-force board)
i have catilyst 4.9 for my radeon x850 pro

this may seem harsh, but it is built up..i have been reading this forum for about a year before i joined, when i ran into a problem i couldnt fix myself.

unless someone litrally states they are using illegal programs/games/music..why bother them over it?

Well if its images of your originals then a reformat wont be so bad since you wont lose anything..

But your problem sounds like a driver problem..

Does a site with the name elitetorrents sound familiar? One I used to send no-cd's and trainers to the dox person there. A torrent site, basically. I had nothing to do with the warez part of it, just dox to the guy who would bundle the weekly dox together.

Im sure a glenbo was there, may not have been you. But 1TB of space, makes me wonder.

And when you lied to me about how I was supposedly misquoted you, I cant take what you say as the truth, if you didnt I wouldnt have gone this far.

if you seemed to think i was a member there @ this warez site, and i would like you to prove that to me by a screenshot or by another member as evidence,i would love to see that.

but you just admitted you use this site,so i think if anybody around here should be under the microscope,it should be you.

you must of spent alot of time there to go searching for my name before you even spoke to me.and how did my name stand out so much to you? you never even spoke to me until i got upset with a racist comment that you made about all english people are stupid.

also just to add, every other forum i use,i use my online name 'krome',my name is not glen, glenbo it was the first name that popped to my head when i joined here,as it is my fathers name.

i just used a false username here as i assumed like you told me before, cracks are now deemed illegal, and you also said making backups is illegal, when we were discussing crack groups. so if that is true,i dont want anything linking to me.
but the longer i have been here, the more i realise that you are not exactly the most helpful member.your just a forum flamer, every one has one...and all you do is cause riots,or get people banned, like its some kind of sickining fetish of yours.

also how is having a 1tb a reason to suspect? all good new systems have that as standard.

oh btw thanks for ruining my topic,no dought it will now get locked and my question will go un answerd, just because you felt like causing a riot.,im suprised you are still a member here with you attitude.

Did I say making backups is illegal?

Unfortunately the torrent site is gone, but as I said it may have been you or may not have been you.

But with your attitude here and your 1TB storage..

Well Even people I know who has originals never flood their HD's with images of every original they have.

1. Bad for the HD

2. Bad defragmentation

And yeah im pointing the finger at you, for when you lied about me about that "quote". Saying I made it up, pffff..

All good systems come with 1TB? 1000GB?

My arse, and I own a PC shop, I never sold anything that high. The most ive done custom built is 300GB. People would have to ask specifically. And even then it would be probably Primary Master/Slave at 400GB each. Then 200GB raided.

Yeah I admit I was on the scene years and years ago since amiga upwards. But ive left that behind and doing trainers.

But due to the scene I can smell out the warez users, even if styles and PC's change, people dont.

you didnt say making backups was illegal no,you said the use of cracks to back up games was illegal, and that is why crack groups are not as active anymore,as most of them have been busted or retired,i said well it says it is legal on the first page of this website, and you said it wasent anymore.

you are just giving me hell because you told me you were gonna get me banned and it didnt happen, probaly because when you read the post back you will see you were rude, offesive and racist...i was just trying to offer a novice opinion.

i just asked for some help. your the one whos accusing me of warez when i have already said i have contacted rockstar games.stop ruining my thread.
if you aint gonna give advice, irratate someone else.

your stupid accusations just make you look hilarious to outside readers.
dont ever go on jury service ffs lol
it would go like this....

'i saw this guy from saudi arabia in england in 1971,well atleast he looked like him'

shut up man,its pathetic.go back to your torrent sites, and stop trying to convince peoiple you aint a warez kiddie, when you know so much about it.
you said yourself people dont change, therefore in not so many words, you are saying you use warez but you are beating around the bush and not actually saying it.
yet i have never even entered a warez site.
you say you can sniff out warez users..because you used to leech games from people? FFS get a job in the riaa man, they would love to have you onboard to do what they cant.

look on any website about new systems, you say you own a shop yet you have never heard of a 1tb drive,i mean what the hell!,do you pay someone to run it for you?
all top range mega systems of £2500 or more come with 2x 500gb sata drives.
build it yourself and it would cost about £900 most of teh cost being in teh gfx card, wich even at cost price would set you back about 2-300 for something like a top ati or nvidea card.i got one 500gb form ebay maxtor at £80 about a year ago (won the bid),and teh other i bought from pc world in a external caddy for about £300.

When you're DJ'ing, you definitely need an extremely large and fast media for all the music; you can't have CD's, DVD's around for that purpose because they are low-capacity, slow and need to be changed all the time. A very large (set of) hard disk(s) is unavoidable. I'm not sure if you can buy a 1000 Gb hard disk today but it doesn't matter because you can buy 3 pieces of 400 Gb ones instead anyway. And, if you have a SCSI-based machine, not even the usual "max. 4 IDE (ATA) devices" limitation applies to you.

@glenbo: You don't need to explain everything about yourself, to defend yourself. No one has the right to know any personal fact about you without your consent. Just leave the provocative questions and assumptions unanswered; if you answer them, your answers will only raise more provocative questions and assumptions. (Been there, done that. Trust me, that's the best solution!) In short, "don't feed the troll"! On the other hand, don't speak about warez either, and you should be safe on this forum!

I had San Andreas. I hated it, and thank god a local pawn shop gave me full price for it. I bought Hearts of Iron 2!

Anyways, I ran the cracks prefectly back in the day (2 weeks ago ). Your DVD must be damaged in some way, because that is the weirdest problem I have ever heard of. Cracks usually don't mess with the original DVD, and if that IS the case, you may just want to uninstall/reinstall San Andreas, and use the original.

If the original is damaged, Rockstar will take it back and send you a new one. Lemme know if you need contact information for them.

Edit: Never try to run SA without the patch. There's SERIOUS flaws in the PC version in 1.0, graphic coding being a major one.

What happened when you tried to reinstall the game entirely and ran it from 1.0 without the patch, did it function?

it will work from the disc, but it takes for ever to kick in,(every other game is instant, and so was this before) however patch or unpatched if i mount the mini image it says the same thing..insert original disc.
if i use the fixed exe and the mini image..it does nothing..if i rip a image to my hard disc from the full game (mds, mdf using the instructions in another thread) again it asks for the original disc.

its just got me baffled,i mean im not a n00b with pc's atall,i dont know how to make cracks, but defintly know how to use them, but this has me stumped,i have spent all day messing with it,and tralling through the registry looking for rouge san andreas files, and found nothing.

i have still to hear a reply from rockstar. grrrr

just my luck this lol! why cant one of my less prized games not work lol! like one i have finished already.

why did this happen to all the rockstar games? and nothing else,i have just noticed teh same thing happend to max payne 2.
