AR MAX card abnormality

Yesterday I became the owner of an AR MAX for the playstation 2. Needless to say how good it is and it works fine except for one thing. In the package I didn't get an ordinary "dongle" or "hardware card" or whatever else they call it but instead I got a bonus 8mb memory card, which also serves as the AR MAX's hardware. Fine up to here.

I have my ps2 connected to an adaptor so that I can alternate my pc monitor between the pc and the console and not occupy a tv. However, the adaptor needs to have a cable inserted into my memory card slot 2 so the ar max card, my regular mem card and the cable don't all fit. So I took the console to the tv with the hope of transferring game data from my original mem card to the ar max card (via the ps2 browser) so that I may have again my ps2 on the monitor with just the ar max card and the cable. Anyway, I had in mem card slot 1 my sony mem card and in slot 2 I had the ar max card, which said to have a free space of 7998 mb. I tried to copy a Final fantasy X save from the first card to the ar card. The size of the save was 60 kb. I tried to do it via the ps2 browser. The copy failed during the attempt. the problem is not that, it is that even though the copy failed and the ar card seems to have no data in it, its capacity has been reduced to 5,950mb !!! I tried to erase, something but there isn't anything! You'll say I should have read the manual first, well maybe so but it doesn't say anything about what I tried to do. That's not the end. I then started the ar in the console. Through the ar interface I copied 2 FFX saves in the ar card and they copied fine. then I read in the manual about the option to format the card and erase everything. I guessed it may fix the initial problem I had. So I formatted the ar card and it deleted the 2 ffx saves I had put in, however instead of either restoring the capacity to 5,950 or better yet to 7998 mbs (which would fix the problem as well), it reduced the capacity to 3,790 mbs!!!! Of course, I mean the free space remaining not the total capacity it can hold. I fear that If É do anything else,it will, like, reduce it to zero! without having anything in it!!!

Any help on this guys???
