Your hard drive is set to primary master. Any other drive you set to master will be the secondary master.

Usually each cd-rom/harddrive have jumpers on the back. Just change them to whatever you want.

Question ?

What are the benefits of setting an additional drive device as "secondary master"? Is there something inherently prohibitive (back-up creation-wise) of having a drive connected as a slave or cable-selected?

With dvd burners, it is recommended to set it as master. You can be ok with it set to slave, but if you are having burning problems and switch it to master, those problems usually disappear.

What burner do you have and what are you trying to burn? Did you follow the RecordNow Max tutorial in the Backup Procedures sticky?

Ok, try going to your system properties and disableing DMA. If you don't know how to do this, tell me your OS and I will try to guide you through it.

That is odd. Oh well, at least you are up and running.
