Unhappy Grand Theft Auto Vice City Errors

I have tried to copy Grand Theft Auto Vice City using Prassi Promo DVD 2.0 on my Pioneer DVD writer. After I completed building the "Global Image or GI" I get a message saying that the task has been completed with errors thus not making it possible for me to write it to my harddrive...Is there a copy protection on this disk? Has anyone burned a copy? I must add that my Grand Theft Auto Vice City DVD has no nicks or scratches. Thanks Mike

Unhappy Vice city

I copied GTA vice city a week ago and it worked fine in the beginning. But it gets wose the more you play it. yesterday it just stopped only playing music. The rest just didnt do anything anymore. So i tried erasing my save games and the game worked again only to save again later and the same thing happens. It gradually gives errors and then stops working at all. It just hangs.
Maybe it is protected i dunno, why dont they stop protecting cuz its gonna be cracked anyway (if protected). It only costs more and less people will buy and more will be copied.

I burned dvd to dvdr using pioneer a04 and nero. Works 100% and has been played to death by mates.

Using Ver4 with neo2.2 (modded for 1 year) with Panasonic rf120 dvdr's

Try Changing your DMA setting to PIO via the Device Manager for IDE Channel of your Burner. Also it's recommended to install it as a Primary Device on the Secondary IDE channel.

Also try upgrading the firmware. http:www.pioneer-eur.com for official firmware. Below is hacked firmware to allow the drive to be Multi region DVD and burn any disc @2x speed.

Hans, if you update to a hacked version can you get the original f/w back or are you stuck?

What firmware do you recommend?

'NO', once you have upgraded to either a hacked or official firmware you cannot downgrade.

I've got the official Fw 1.33 for my A04 and haven't had any problems at all. I was a bit pissed off when i found out about the hacked fw 1.33 as it makes the drive region free, and enables it to burn and any type of dvd-r's @2x. Couldn't even overwrite my current firmware as the flash program said i already had the latest version.

is there much difference between 1.32 and 1.33?

Having problems with white label 2X and wondered if it could be firmware related?

If so i may plump for the hacked f/w 1.33

What sort of problems? There isn't much difference between the two. However, i did have a few problems myself with fw1.32 as certain burns would hang on 70 to 80% of the burn process using Primo. Fw1.33 did sort them out though. Using hacked firmware is at your own risk. I would probably update to the hacked version if i could.

I copied GTA Vice City and it burned fine and it plays great. What chip do you have? I used Nero to make the image and make sure you are burning to good media. I suggest TDK or Verbatim DVD-R's to ensure a working back-up. I used TDK media and I have an apple chip in a V7 PS2. I have Primo DVD also but I haven't used it yet since I am more comfortable with Nero. You can download Nero from there website if you need it. Hope this helps.

I burned Grand Theft Auto: Vice City to Traxdata DVD-R with my Pioneer DVR-104 using Firmware fw1.33 from the Pioneer Website. It loads quicker than the original and I have not had a single problem yet!

I have official 1.33
Whitelabel 2x strange media, backed up some PS2 games with np, both 1x and 2x. Other PS2 games will not boot. I think that I will stick with Traxdata DVD-R.
