S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyle - Crashing

Hello all, this is my first post, and I'm happy to finally join the gaming community in an attempt to make gaming better for all.

I don't know about anyone else, but I haven't been able to play Stalker for more than an hour at a time with my system entirely locking up. I've done a filemon anaylsis and noticed that every time the game crashes it write a txt file to a location in all users/documents/shoc about the x-ray engine that they use in game.

First, here's my system specs

AMD X2 4200+ Dual Core at 2.31 ghz
ATI Radeon x1900 series 256 mb
1 gb pc 6400 DDR2 Ram
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Sound card
1 Sata 180 gb hd
1 ATA 200 GB hd
ECS Motherboard NForce4M-A chipset

Ok, I realize this is a huge post but I beleive its necessary. I've bolded the important information.

This log does not include the log I had previously that was running Full HDR. In the begging of the log it said it could not recognize the shader model and loaded some generic one, eventually causing a crash. This could be due to some incompatibility with Shader Model 3 as this game uses only Shader Model 2 Technology (I beleive) or at least was built around it. Now I only run the game with static lighting and this seems to add a further 10-20 minutes of gameplay.

Also, as you can see, there are some unkown command messages such as r__wallmark_ttl that may be causing crashes.

Also, of course the final message, stating there are insufficient system resources to complete the requested service, which leads me to believe there may be some kind of memory leak within the code.

As well, notice the game does not recognize that my sound card is EAX compatible and creates some form of generic sound software.

Overall, the lower the graphics settings, the longer I get to play without crashing, which also leads me to believe there may be some kind of memeory leak.

If anyone has any kind of experience with this kind of information or is having similar problems, please post post post so we can solve this issue.

First of all, the usual stuff: Update drivers, especialy your graphics card and soundcard drivers.
These unknown commands seem to me like you're either using an improper crack or you're playing with some sort of beta...

Are you using a crack anyway ?

BTW Im playing the game w/ a Radeon 9800 so Im not using any Shader 3 HDR, Uberlightning stuff, dunno what causes Cpt.Canuck's problems but this might be some sort of DirectX stuff. (The game even has DirectX 10 on it's DVD, maybe Shader3 only works w/ DX10 and therefore with Vista only)

Hey guys, thanks for such quick replies.

Yeah, I hate changing cd's all the damn time, crack all my games. I originally played it without as well, same issues, same crashing.

I'm not even entirely sure if Full Dynamic Lighting is Shader model 3, but it might think it is and try to implement it or something.

I dunno, checking out those forums.
