Problems with the Echelon intro
I have had some problems coping some dc games with the echelon intro. When I press enter to exit of the echelon intro and go to the game the game don't enter.
Have somebody had similar problems? Do somebody knows how solver? do somebody knows how to eliminate the echelon intro? THX. |

If it's for DOA2LE, follow these instructions :
(For other games, post their names) ============================================= Some people may wish to remove the Echelon intro for one reason or another, a major one being that the intro sometimes screws up the sound/music initialization in their rip of Unreal Tournament (making it emit a nasty screeching sound until a game is started). Extract the 1ST_READ.BIN file from the CDI or your CD. Fire up your hex-editor (I like HEdit or Hex Workshop) and open 1ST_READ.BIN, go to offset 0xF0000 and copy the Hex all the way to 983040 (the end). Make a new file 1929928 bytes large, and paste the contents of the clipboard into it. Save the file, and place it into a directory (ie, C:\SELFBOOT\DOA2LE), and extract the data from the CD or the CDI file into that directory as well. Now just follow ECHELON's self-boot tutorial and re-image the CD. Ok, this is what I would do :
_ open 1st_read.bin with an hex editor _ look for "lib handle start" (you should find one, but not at the very beginning of the file) _ a bit before, you should find a lot of "00", and then "09 00 09 00 09 00 ..." _ select the bytes from the very beginning of the file to the byte BEFORE the first 09 _ delete these bytes and save your file (you should get a 1st_read.bin starting with a "09 00 09 00" sequence) Reburn you game using any methode you want. |

Ok, this is what I know.
You have several method to add an intro to a game : 1) you take the 1st_read.bin, and add your own intro before it so that when your intro is finished, it JUMPS AUTOMATICALLY to the real 1st_read.bin. 2) you make your intro, recode the 1st_read.bin so that when your intro is finished YOU CODE THE LOADING of the real 1st_read.bin. On the 1st case, you can rip the intro off using the method I explained to you. In the other case, unless you find the real 1st_read.bin, you won't manage to do anything (you need to find where's the real 1st_read.bin, then decode it and then make it clean...). So, I can't help you. Sorry. |

NHL2k2 intro
Yeah,
I tried eliminating the intro in nhl2k2 (deleting data from start of 1st_read.bin to right before the libstart info). Tried around 3-4 times and wasn't successful.. Disk would just keep on re-booting repeatedly right after the Sega logo.. Don't know what's up with that one. Bruce |

Ok guys.
Try this for NHL2K2 : remove everything from the very beginning to "05D0 0261 05D2 2921" (the one before "Lib Handle Start"), so that 1st_read.bin should start with this sequence. |

Yeah, that's exactly what I did..... Then I used Echelon self-boot cdrecord method.... When I put in the disk, the intro is gone... However, all it does is continually re-boot after it gets to the Sega logo... This one is really weird... Bruce |
