... except if you have a contract with the publisher of the original game, I guess... (?)

I think Luciel was saying that PAYING for mods is illegal. (Publishers now explicitly state this somewhere in the EULA or the SDK docs of games they expect to get modded by third-party people.)

They are also illegal if its one property onto another, hence it was an EA game and Blizzard game combined, EA does not have control over Blizzard data and vice versa hence why Blizzard kicked up a fuss about it.

Well BLizzard is f...up

Every time you think it cant get worse it gets....even more lame

BLIZZARD is a lame company now, after vivendi took control ...

them use spyware in WOW
them do not allow private server
best coder left them
thye shut down fan sites
they bann randomly
WoW sux
Future games will sux
even IF they announce SC2, it will be lame

So lets remember the good ol days and move on to NEW games from people who know about games...

my 2 cents

Duke Nukem Forever is still being worked on. As it's gonna be a great hit, let's hope it won't turn out to be vaporware. (After all, the publisher could make great money from it; why abandon it then?!)

Starcraft 2 is in the works...
( http://www.starcraft2.com/ according to rumors indicates that Blizz is working on SC2 for almost 4 years now.. )
As for Duke Nukem Forever do i need to comment ? Its in the works for more than 6 years now...When it was first announced the graphics were spectacular, now they are just LOW....If they plan to change the engine every 3 months to keep up with the new GPUs they will never release it.
