Plextors and 2.51 is tough topic to comment on. 95% of people claim it can't, the remainder claim it can.
I have a Plex 24X and it cannot do it for me. You will have to look at the alternatives such as AWS, Betablocker (BTW neither of these worked for me with GTA3 - Betablocker used to work for me with earlier games with 2.51, but not some newer ones) Also make sure you ticked Hide CD-R Media. And one more thing - you should be able to make a copy that works in the Plextor no problem - a copy is considered to be good when it works in all drives. Search the forum for info on Safedisk 2.51
