Sony has a put burn-protect feature on Sony DVD players 300+ (im not sure about older models..if there is any) This feature DOES NOT allow burnt media to be played on the player (i.e Audio CD-R, Audio CD-RW, Home-made VCD and home-made DVD. If you want to play this kinda stuff, go get a panasonic.[/quote]

Wrong, I got a new Panasonic that don't do that. Wonder how they do the protection? My guess is the reading circuitry, maybe fuzzy logic to process the signal strength or wavelength from the laser?
