1. plz4 searches for lz4 streams, while pzlib/reflate -for deflate/zlib streams. reflate has better detector, than public pzlib. private pzlib probably have the same detection ratio as reflate
2. Because compression is heavier in LZMA. 4x4 utilize FOUR LZMA (de)compressors at the same time, but hurt compression ratio, cause compressed data is divided by blocks 3. You can't 4. Use lower dictionary settings for LZMA/srep 5. For certain types of data, it's not recommended by default 6. srep wasn't updated for years. There are better algos than LZMA in terms of general compression or compression ratio, but it's universal
