Good Day,

I recently purchased Diablo II with the LoD Expansion set. I chose to install all of the CDs using the hard-drive option versus the CD option. I had to travel recently on my job and left all of my CDs home in safe-keeping to only find out that I can't launch the game without the notification to, "Insert the Expansion disc". I have researched on the web about this issue for several hours and have tried everything I could thing of but to no avail. I have 11 .mpq files in my \Diablo II directory. I have applied the latest Expansion patch v1.12a

Did you copy all mpq files from the expansion disc? Since there's no cd-check it's most likely you're just missing some files. As far as I remember you have to copy the movies and the music files from both the expansion disc and the Diablo 2 cinematics disc, because the full install doesn't copy all necessary files to your hard drive.
