Cracking the activation is considered warez.
Most likely will see a crack for the DVD-check, but not for the activation.
I guess all the cracking teams are waiting for the upcoming patch. The PC version came out more like a beta version, rather than a finished game. There are some serious bugs and the frustration of the legit buyers in the 2k Games forums is raising hell there.
They should've delivered a polished product and beta-test longer, rather than introducing a protection scheme that will affect only their customers.
The fact that you have only 2 installs on the same machine(and many people lost one already when the activation servers crashed), the online activation, the use of a known version of Securom 7.31 which was known to give problems are pushing the people who bought the game to utter despair.
The XBox360 version is almost flawless, yet the PC fans got the worst. At the beginning they tried to blame piracy, but there are no cracked versions or keygens for that. In their newest press release, the developers apologised to the fans, but the fault doesn't lie only on the shoulders of the developping company, but also on the publisher, which is actually in charge of support and which asked for that protection scheme.
The publishing houses are the ones who are deciding which protection scheme will be used and the developping company has no other choice than to implement the wish of the publisher.
So the guilt is shared. But the patch it ain't ready yet. And apologies won't do.
I think the two install margin is gross. If the publisher cosider that this game it has only a two times replay value, than I don't have anything else to say. As a good news the patch will extend the 2 install margin at 5, after that you will have to use an activation key removal tool, which will be provided by the developping company and you will have to go all over again through the activation process and than you will have another five installs. Weeee...
Mind blowing for people which payed for the game.

wolfsrain is right: this thread became a warez discussion, especially because all cracks will include a crack for the online activation whose discussion is against the forum rules. (Just like Half-Life 2 threads, related to circumventing Steam activation.) Therefore, the thread is closed now and so will be others, too, if they start discussing the activation!
