other than booting a backup, there any way to know what BIOS is flashed into the a chip? I got my PS2 done with crystal 2, but it booted a backup with thier own BIOS still installed. I just wanna make sure the hacked BIOS installed so I dont burn out my PS2.

IIRC, there is a section in one of the menus which tells you the info about the BM and BIOS installed.
If backups boot, then obviously the hacked BIOS is installed so don't worry about it. Standard CC chips out-of-the-box do NOT boot backups. If yours does, then it's had the hacked BIOS installed at some point by somebody... Hope that helps... P.S.
