yeah they got busted way back...i was very sad to hear that at that time, they´ve cracked beauties like monkey island 1 and some 5 1/4 floppys. maybe they´ll comeback and crack SF4, considering that it was no easy business to crack those ancient floppys.

I don't quite understand; floppies are floppy exactly so that they don't crack when you bend them...!

They already cracked starforce 4.You just need to install an antiblacklisting tool called Windows Vista Beta 2 , mount the image in daemon tools and play.

I still have faith in that someday reloaded (or any other crackgroup) will figure out a faster way to remove starforce from games and create working cracks. Each succesful crack is a step closer in my eyes...

Do you know this for sure? I REALLY hope this is true. I'm not bothering with this game if it uses SF (I'm an SF boycotter), but I REALLY want this game badly. I loved FO1...I still play it often. FO2 is my most wanted game ever for the PC. Truth.

Gawd, I hope the American version IS Securom....I won't be afraid of buying and installing it then. I've gotten burned too many times by SF games already to purposely buy another one.

How sure are you of this info? Just because the American publisher generally uses Securom doesn't mean that this game will automatically use it. Are you just guessing based on the publisher's track record or do you KNOW?

Meh...either way, I guess we'll all find out when it releases here.....I'll either be deleriously happy to play the game or severely disappointed that I don't dare to install it on my PC.

I need confirmation on the protection to be used in the American version. My potential purchase of this game depends on it.

I'll be sure to keep a lookout here at GCW fileforums for the final determination on which protection is used on the American version.

Now I'm all excited for the game again...because of this rumor.

I haven't tested with starforce 4 game on vista beta 2 because i don't have such game at the moment but i made some tests with Rise and Fall CaW which uses starforce 3.16.7 (not basic) and got some interesting results. My MB has nforce 4 chipset and my HDDs are sata so the optical drives are alone on the ide controller.Under windows XP SP2 i couldn't run the game with mounted image. My image is good , i also tried to unplug my drives , updated the sptd driver to 1.25 but no luck. Then i tried with vista beta 2.Installed daemon tools 4.03 with sptd 1.25 , mounted the same image that i used under xp with no luck and the game started.NO need to disconnect or disable optical drives or hide them any other way.Just mounted the full image and game worked. So i guess taht starforce 4 will also work under vista beta 2 with mounted full image.

I tried the proposed solution using a usb dvd drive. I bought an usb2ide adapter (google for ADU2IDE-N133), which was just cheap (with usb cable ~15 euro) and some blank dvds (TDK DVD-RW). Burned my image using blindwrite and everything works simply perfect. In addition, I will now be able to hot (un)plug my dvd and I dont have any ide drives connected.

Same procedure works for Rush for Berlin.

Thanks a lot for the tip

What do you mean with the full image ?
I have downloaden a blindwrite image which contains 4 files, and i can mount one of them.

Did you make a new image yourself, and how did you do it (what program did u use) ?

I also have Vista beta 2 with deamon 4.03 and the 125 driver, but i can't get it to work (and also have sata-hdds)

How big is the image you've downloaded? If it's several hundred megabytes or a few Gigabytes then it's what we call a "full image".
