There was a patch to solve this I believe, and I just noticed it removes Starforce

I tried that update, even reinstalled Area51 and used that update,... still getting the same problem,... only this time is crashes my PC with a 'windows stop error'. Dumps the physical memory, and tells me to restart. x.x ![]() EDIT : Well,... I just kept my screen facing the ground and ran past the first windows,... then low and behold the WATER BOTTLE in the next room did the same thing!.... I put up with it,... as hard as it was to kill with a image of a water bottle stuck in the middle of your screen. But then everything went fine after that,... no other glass froze it, even with the 'aliens' jumping through them. But when I went to turn off the generator,... A STUPID PIECE OF BLOOD ON THE WALL MADE ME CRASH *frown* this is really frustrating,... |

Try not overclocking your card first, why people do this is ludicrous.

how much memory do you have and what type, is it the old SDRAM or the newer DDRAM ? most of the newer games need at least 512mb of memory and ideally 1 gig of memory in my opinion. also, not sure how good your card is but i run a geforce 6800LE and it just about runs the likes of FEAR, DOOM3 etc on the high settings. you really need a high end card to run these games at a decent frame rate otherwise you get this slowdown youre on about and often a freeze up cos the card cant cope with the detail processing quickly enough. overclocking isnt always a good idea as this can damage your card if youre not careful and cause the games to freeze up.
try running your card at the factory settings, not overclocked and make sure all other programs are off, you can check this by pressing control alt delete at the same time and a box will pop up telling you whats running. its ok to end any programs that are running here, this will free up some much needed memory to run your games. sounds like you got a decent enough processor but you may need a better graphics card and more memory if youre still getting probs. hope this helps. |

I have 1.51 gb of ram,... it's DD2,... pretty new I believe. Also I checked on SRTEST.com and it tells me "Congratulations, your system will Rock this product! Wish we had a system that hot you lucky dog."
But still,... I STILL get those stupid glass shard like particals freezing on my screen, before my system totally blanks out and crashes. *see the screenshot above for picture detail*. I have the most recent drivers of both my 3-d card and my mini-ports,.. but still I'm at a loss at why it does this

Your best bet is an e-mail to Midway support I'm afraid, either that or try another video card in your system and see if it does the same or some older drivers.

well I tried my other 3-d card again, and it works,.... so I guess my NEW 3-d card just isn't supported??

Bum! Thought that patch would work
![]() DAB, the card is overclocked out the box by default (why it's called 6200 OC) but only by 25Mhz on the core, 375Mhz instead of 350Mhz. The card needs to be run at 350Mhz and tested on the game again, if it still does the same it eliminates the overclock as the problem and then we clutch at straws!! |
