just curious though, why dont you burn the files with Clonedvd2?? Have you had problems burning with it in the past?
Yes I used to have a few problems with CloneDVD2 when doing the actual burn. The burn would sometimes stop halfway thru and complain about the media? But I really believe it was only caused by the cheap media I used to use. But since doing the burn with Nero (even with the cheaper media) I have never had a problem with any movies. They all play in any standalone player.

to make things a little faster do this just a little suggestion your dvd file is in vts folder just take that folder and drag and drop into 3 and it will automatically go into 5 so basically just drag 2 over to 3 and drop then your files will go into 5 auto.. drop into video on 3
Yes that will also work.
I wrote it my way only to try and explain where the files actually end up. I wanted people to realize what files went where. But thanks all the same for you tip.

I've noticed this alot in the past with just about any blank media. It happens more often when backing up original DVD's that have episodes on them. Burning the movie with Nero 7 from a CloneDVD2 shrunken file on your harddrive increases the chances of a good burn by alot.

@whoeverxxx
Yes the questions was actually to tontosmudflap!
And no I havent updated Nero yet. I never update until I am sure the newer versions are as reliable as the previous versions. Not always is the latest the greatest.

The reason 4x does not show up for you is probably because either you DVD burner does not support 4x or the discs themselves are only 2x. Burning at 2x wont be the issue, the slower the better.
Now the problem with the discs not being read in the DVD player may be because the player does not like the brand of disc? Have you played any copied movies (regardless of the brand) in the player before?

But it is unusual it does not play in your PC?
Are you sure, in Nero, that you placed 'all' the files into the 'Video_TS' folder?
All files must go into that Video_TS folder!
Also what program are you using in your PC to view the DVD? I use WinDVD 7 only because its the program I currently have installed.
But most (if not all) of the popular DVD player programs should be able to play the DVD, after all it is only a DVD but with the region code and the protection removed.
I could suggest another way to burn the disc but I want to just re-check the method first, then I will get back to you on it.

I find using nero 7 and any dvd works the best. Sometimes with clone dvd 2 the quality of the movie isnt that great when you wish to copy the entire dvd, while with nero 7 you can decrease the quality of the extras or menus, and have the main movie a good quality

Hmmm, I havent actually tried this method, but I will.
Although when I backup a movie, one of the main reasons I do it is to get rid of all the menu's and the extras, that way when I insert the DVD it just plays right away, without waiting forever for the extras, warnings, advertising etc to go through.
