Need help with V9 ps2 with infinity chip

Maybe you dont have a real MI. There is a clone of the MI called the modbo and the new v1.45 flash has protection on it that will basically screw up the modbo rendering it useless if you try and flash it with the new MI flash. Who did the install?

I did the install. I did it about 5-6 months ago. Its been working great until I did that flash. Sometimes it boots my backups but it's like 1 out of every 15 tries. Thats why I think that it could be a solder point. I bought the chip at www.consolesource.com.

I emailed the Matrix team and they told me that it might be fake that I have installed in my ps2 just like Spedmetal says. I sent them a pic of my install so they can tell me for sure if it's a fake or not. I'll let you all know what happens. Thanks again for all your help.

Hi,

the Infinity is original 100%.

The problem is most probably the cold solder points I can see in the
picture of the instaallation.
Especially the GND and 3.3V points are not well soldered.

Do the Following test in this order:

1) first of all we try the recovery mode of the Infinity.
Take a V1.39 or V1.36 firmware and follow the recovery procedure:
-----------------------
- NOTE : You can always recover from a bad flash with the following
procedure:
Put Upgrade CD into PS2 and put PS2 into standby.
Press "reset button" and keep pressed until blue light turn ON (on V1-V11).
(For the V12 press reset button from standby for 2-3 seconds as there is
no blue light).
Leave "reset button" and Upgrade CD will boot.
Follow on-screen instructions to complete the Upgrade procedures

The recovery mode in the original Infinity Always works, so try more than
one time if you fail.


Once you have the old firmware installed, REMOVE and REDO the following
points po the Infinity: GND and 3.3V and "A".

You can clearly see in the picture that you sent to me that these points
are not well soldered on the PS2 motherboard.
Use some FLUX to remove the oxides!!


After you have done this and the chip is working, repeat the upgrade
procedure.

Hi,

I have the same problem. I bought a slim ps2 a week ago. While booting it read Infinity v.1.39 so i assume(d) it had a Matrix Infinity chip. I read here that there is a new firmware, checked Matrix website and saw my version there too. So i couldn't go wrong right??

Well i upgraded the fw to 1.45 and now circle triangle doesn't bring the chip menu anymore. This Matrix logo pops up and the thing freezes.

Anyway i can undo this upgrade?

Anyone has a Modbo fw image i can use?

P.S.: Doesn't this thing need to do a checksum before it upgrades fw? Shouldn't it have told me that the chip is not intended for that fw?

Nope, thats what you get for supporting the cloners. If you purchased this with an install from an installer, well then I feel for you and you should contact them and let them know your problem.

As far as I know there is no fix for this problem, oh wait yes I do know one. RIP that CLONE OUT and install a true infinity!

I wasn't aware of clones at the time, i bought it premodded. And if i had known i would have paid a 100 bucks over and get it with a decent chip. Now i have to pay that 100 bucks anyway (93$ to be exact, what they charge here in Istanbul - Turkiye)...
