I can understand them making a example of the guy selling downloaded, bootleged cd's at a flea market or something but busting some kid like Luciel mentioned is just sad. In my eyes it makes the RIAA or whatever the hell they call themselfs look bad.

By sueing kids they achieve exaclty what they want as sueing someone who is making money on selling music is not that interesting and does not affect the common people

The RIAA & MPAA are both legal entities and are allowed to do these things by law (DMCA/FECA)... and if they continue sueing people, in the end it will make people more aware that they should not "upload/share" files and for better p2p networks to be developed, with better privacy protection (ip forgery/hiding)

The bad thing is that their tactics are now "copied" by other countries (UK, SE, DE, NL) now, making their action even more "legit". So it would be good if the RIAA/MPAA are stopped somehow, but that would mean cancelation of the DMCA/EUCD and this will never happen which the current governments...

The US is more and more becoming a Big Brother society where everybody is being monitored and sued when they find someting on you!

For the girl subject.

She was caught sharing 100k+ mp3's. Or was it 200k+.

I cant remember now, at the time they didnt know if she was a she or a child or whatever.

End of the day she was sharing music illegally and her parents who became her legal representitives got fined heavily.

$250k I think it was.

Yah, it was really high. Didn't the Artist go after her? I can't remember. They wanted to show that anyone who does it will get in trouble.

This is what Im talking about with broadband kiddies. Not saying you are. But that is good for an example.

Broadband Kiddies prefer to download at full speed, they have the connection, but will refuse a 56k connection. As if its diseased or something.

Many people in the US and UK and pretty much everywhere else cant help being on 56k cause that is all thats available to them.
