i think the best thing to prevent confusion and errors is that you reinstall BFV

does anyone else get an error "please insert either battlefield vietnam CD" after i exit a server and try to join another one? i cant seem to figure this out...

Yes, no-cds have historically sucked for battlefield games. Just exit the game before switching servers.
