Get a solderless chip install it yourself.
Its possible finding one thats in the $50 dollar range. He isn't going to supply you with a HD, so either way you'll need to get a new one. Installing it shouldn't take you to long. The DVD dongle - Is actual an app loaded onto the hard-drive. As well as other apps. Which are free. I don't really know if you want to trust someone over the internet with your xbox anyways. Whats "Frys" I can use another xbox.
