They are both great burners but -r media is stil more widely used and supported by more devices. You don't need the +r option for PS2 games but if your dvd player will only play +r you might consider the Sony. If you don't know what your dvd player supports you can check here. You can save some money by going with the Pioneer as well. The choice is yours.
