I went into the modchip.com site and if you click on the "order" the 3.5, then in the top right hand side of your screen there should be a blue box with installation....installed....etc.... in it. I clicked on installation and it brings up a diagram of where the wires go, looks like there still is soldering on the board itself. If you really want to do it yourself, buy a cheap $5 or $10 stereo from a pawnshop or where ever, take the cover off so you can see the electronic components, turn it on and listen to the sound quality, turn it off, disconnect the power, and desolder one component on it's board. Then resolder it back in, reconnect power, turn it on and listen to the quality of the sound. Do this 15 to 20 times for practice. If you fry something or it no longer works, finish practicing, get another, do it again until you don't fry it or trash the sound. If you can (take the pebble from my hand grasshopper...haha) remove and replace 10 components and it works fine after....i'd do the modchip.
