how long did it take you to type that lot out?
The strange thing is Nightstalkers method wouldn't work on my palv5 with the no solder mod, the screen just froze at the black updating codes notice when i did the swap.
This was on all my games and i took it nice and slow to make sure i was getting it right.(It's a while since i've done this swapping carry on with having a Messiah in another ps2).
The Dave Mirra method did work every time.
Maybe it's just a v5 no solder thing.
