I have a PS2 with a NEO4 chip installed. Recently my PS2 stopped reading anything from original dvd's to copied ps2 games. It sounded like it wasn't spinning the discs & I thought my laser was burnt out. I purchased a new laser & installed it but it still doesn't seem to work. Power seems to be getting through as the spindle turns momentarily then stops & the laser moves up & down a few times then stops as well. Can anyone help?? Is there another problem it could be??? if you replaced the laser then I strongly suspect the orange ribbon cable that goes from the laser unit to the PS2 motherboard.

Most likely damaged and needs replacing or, if you'r lucky, not properly seated.
