You should be able to copy GTA 3 without any patches. I made a copy with CloneCD and it works great.

The only thing is that you can't use the copy in your burner! I think there is an ATIP check, as mentioned in the new FAQ, that checks to see if the game is on a CD-R. If it's in a DVD or CD-ROM drive, however, this can not be checked and it works fine.

Btw, I have windows XP home edition, and a Lite-on 48x/24x/48x burner.
