Not exactly sure I fully understand your question BUT i will give it a shot.....
If you mean, "Are the lasers version specific?" Some versions are... I'll do some research to find out exactly which ones...... If you mean, "Is it rec. or required to fit a new laser while you chip a V3?" No..... It really just depends on the shape of the laser... A friend of mine has a V3 that I wouldn't even think about changing the laser in if I was going to chip it.... (Mainly because it probably only has MAYBE 10-15 hrs on it.... He never plays it)... If this didn't answer your question.... Post again and maybe I'll get it right the next time.... LOL
