yes the paradox patch rings a bell.
But none of the non-100% patches I tried resulted in a lock-up to my recollection. You should try the cloneCD site for compatible drives. The one I bought was the cheapest around (mitsumi) and does the job luvvly jubbly. No more patches for me...
