Cossacks and Theme Park Inc

Firstly - I used to be able to backup SafeDisc protected games before with out any problems, using CloneCD. Whilst a few of the copied perfectly, a couple of others I needed to use the UnSafeDisc thing on...but all worked in the end.

I've not changed my Hardware, Operating system or anything, apart from the Version of CloneCD since those days, and now I seem to be having problems.

I recently copied Heist, and Pizza Connection2 without any problems. I've just tried to copy Theme Park Inc, and whilst it looks as if all is fine - I get a 'Data Transfer Error' on installation at 65%, same place each time.

I also had problems with Cossacks - this and Theme Park Inc took ages to actually read the first few percent, but I left them going. It copied, but when I play it, although eventually it does get into the game, the screens that before flicked passed, now stay white for ages, then I get the intro, then they go white, then I get the main menu...I'm not overly worried about this game - as it doesnt look that good anyway - and plays a little slowly...

I'm just a little concerned that the days of me happily backing up stuff maybe coming to an end?

Suggestions please -

Should I revert to an older version of Clone and see if that helps (kinda weird I know but hey!)...
Should I consider buying some new hardware, CDRom/Writer etc using the information from the CD Media World site here as a 'buyers guide' - seems that the Teac Writers are good according to this, but I cant really afford an upgrade/replacement just yet.

Some serious help/info would be appreciated, and if anyone has a patch or anything for Cossacks I'd be greatful, as its annoying me with this white screen crap..
