What's the best currently available modchip to get for a brand new PAL PS2 Console v3 and v4????

Oh, one other thing.... do the new DVD+RW DVD burners burn PS2 DVD backups successfully?? Do they work in a modded PS2?? I was thinking of getting a DVD+RW drive from HP, like the HP DVD100i or something... worthwhile???
ANSWER:
Don't buy the HP 100i would be my advice. It's pretty ropey having a DVD burner that won't burn DVD-Rs, which is what the PS2 community are burning. The Pioneer A03 is fully proven out and that's all I can recommend. Same goes for Dust and many others.
