psx backup newbie!!!

Hey! i'm a newbie in copying psx games. I have ff9 US/NTSC version and i would like to know if there is a special way to burn the game. Beside having a patch to remove the protection, do i need a patch to actually burn the game?

i have cdrwin and cloneCD.
