A patch overwrites a file in the game and allows your PS2 to play your backed up CD.. a burn
You need a program to apply the patch. i recommend using PFF-O-MATIC you can get this off www.megagames.com PS2 When you go to backup a game, get the image on your harddrive, then use PPF-o-matic to apply the patch. I recommend using CDRwin..
