Can a IDE burner copy a patched psx game?

I have a IDE burner and use CDRwin, i have no problems backingup my non protected games but when I need to do a patch it always goes wrong.
So I 'm thinking is there something I am doing wrong, but I have all the right settings and instuctions from pyrats helpfiles or do I need a new burner

go and get your self a copy of Clone cd then you won´t have to add any patches anymore to your psx games( if your cd-r is supported by Clone, most of the sonys are and almost all of the plextors)
