Wolfenstein was definately the granddaddy of FPS no doubt about it. Doom came sometime after. As for Doom 3, pah! What is the fuss all about. Absolutely nothing new, If I want only wish to see spectacular graphics, I'll watch a dvd.
Best FPS of all time has got to go to Devastation in my book, the godfather of FPS, though the likes of Pain killer, farcray and Serious Sam, (I know it didn't offer much more than see it shoot it, but what a game) follow closely. Comanche gold, Delta force, Half life, Vice city, Mafia, saga rally, tetris, Lemmings and Unreal, Sim city and of course The sims.
