Doom 3 Can it be backed up even if you don't have the latest burner?

hi all , first posting !
i also used alcohol 120% , burned all 3 disks from original , installs ok , lets me choose play game , then nothing , eventually it tell me (when ive ejected disk 1) i ned to insert disc 1.
i have the original game installed on my hard drive , help ! and how do i get the cracked exe. from archives? i'd like to try that.
