see if "gamex86.dll" is in the base folder. Even if it is, extract it from the pk4 file it is in and over write. This seems to be a more common problem.....
although... D:\PROGRA~1\DOOM3~1\base\gamex86.dll doom3~1 doesn't have a space, i don't know if windows removed it when they shortened path, but... If all fails, you can go to d3files.com. I made a launcher for the game under utilities. Just click the profiles button and load one. It will create a new save directory and make a new "gamex86.dll" file as well.
