Hey Skatavenger!!
I burn at 10x speed and have no problems. I have burnt 73 games (boot disc 2 selfboot converts), and have had not 1 disc fail. If your burning session fails sometimes at 4 speed (is it really risky?) then you need to upgrade your system or find what is wrong with the PC you are using. I'm not being patronizing, I just know that a CDR which is rated at 10x writing will burn succesfully in a CD burner with 10x burning speed capability. Though the software used should be set to make an image copy on Hard drive, so that the CDR isn't being copied directly from another CD drive, this may cause buffer underruns as dirt & scratches will cause bottlenecks in the CD writing process. I have found that Discjuggler 2 works better than DJ3 for ripping burning DC games.
