i just wired up magic 3.1 to 37 pin plug the other week
my findings were 80% boot sucess on certain games on good media, on v7 and v6(both lasers read crap media with messiah2 installed), with messiah 2 they boot 100% your older laser will decrease the boot rate is my guess, give it clean as charlie suggested
