newbie to backing up xbox, please advise

hey,

i am going to get myself a pre-chipped xbox. However i have a question about backing up the games.

It all sounds quite complicated, can anyone direct me or give me step by step instructions to backing up a game.

Can i not just put it in a pc drive and use a dvd-wr to do a straight copy???

Whats all this networking the pc and xbox stuff about - is that totally neccessary to back up an xbox game?

E.g. can i use nero to do a straight dvd game backup?
