The Neo chips supply too high of voltage to your laser resulting in your laser being fried. This is what happened to your previous ps2. Dvd support is almost always the first to go. Stay away from the magic chip. They have a lot of issues. The clips reduce the number of wires to be soldered but these are very chincy and can come loose. Get either an apple($25) or a messiah 2($50). They are tops. Not sure where you are located, but Bill of freedomlives.com does a superb job installing mods.
