Dual layer Discs are 4.7 x 2= 9.4 on the single side..
Double sided DVD-R's are 4.7 on each side. There is no Dual layer burner at the time being. Nor anytime soon..I'm sure it will happen since technology is advancing.. Xbox games run by 9.4 media's and release groups puts them into 4.7 gig DVD-R's.. Dual layer discs are usually called DVD9 format while single sided 4.7 DVD's are called DVD5 rounded off to the nearest number.
