Fixing Mass Effect saving problems manually

Mass Effect Error to save:

only creates the "SAVE" in your documents >> "documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Save"

or in ISO file modify the file spanish.rar or english.rar
[BioGame\Config\DefaultEngine.ini]
find the line "SavePath =..\BioGame\Save"
and modify by "SavePath =..\BioGame"

Save the file and then put it in the same place in the RAR file (spanish.rar or english.rar)

Just Save the ISO File and DONEEEEE

(Wrong forum, moved.)

I appreciate your efforts but I'm not sure if I understand what you mean.

There is a bug in Mass Effect and it can't save games because it only creates the "BioGame" subdirectory in the user documents but not "Save" under "BioGame". To fix this, find the english.rar or spanish.rar language file in the game installation directory - or create an ISO of your original and enter it with an ISO editor -, extract from it the file called "BioGame\Config\DefaultEngine.ini", change that line and copy the file, keeping the "BioGame\Config" path into the directory where the language file is. Is that correct? Isn't there an article on the official game support forum that explains this more precisely?

Hello, im from argentina, my english is soo bad jaja

Yes, is my way to correct the problem on install error...
the installer is not create folder in documents >>
"\BioWare\Mass Effect\Save"

the installer just create
"\BioWare\Mass Effect\Config" and
"\BioWare\Mass Effect\New"

I edit "data\english.rar" and "data\spanish.rar" and save in the ISO, next install the game,

and play game, in current play save correctly.

Regards

Hello, JoeForster, I have the same problem with saving in Mass Effect. I'm not really an expert in these tech issues, could you please be a bit more specific on how to fix this, step-by-step? I tried to do as described but clearly understood something wrong. I don't know where this english.rar is located, but the BioGame folder was there, so I went straight to BioGame/Config, found this DefaultEngine.ini, changed the line "SavePath =..\BioGame\Save" to "SavePath =..\BioGame" and saved it right there replacing the previous DefaultEngine.ini file with it. I guess I've done something wrong. Now when I enter the game I my previous saves are not there at all.

Hmm, I tried another trick and it seems to have worked. It's even simpler: I restored the original DefaultEngine.ini file, and then copied the Save folder from the Mass Effect folder in Bioware/My Documents to BioGame folder in C:/Program Files (x86)/Mass Effect. Checked the game: my saves are all there and apparently I can save now.

It seems I can't save again. In which case I would like to repeat my prior request, could someone explain exactly how to fix this bug?

Replying to your first post, sorry, I was just trying to make sure that everyone understands chulliano's guide. I don't have this game installed (no time to play games anymore anyway) so I cannot help you.
