Silent Hunter 3 Idea how to crack Patch 1.1

As some of you may know this game is aviable through retail of DVD and through download from fileplanet.com.

On the official website there is a patch for the retail and for the download version. The download version and its patch can't be protected by starforce so it should work as no-dvd. The problem ist that it checks the old files and therefore refuses to update the reail version.

If anybody could upload the sh3.exe, missionengine.dll an simdate.dll from the download version or if somebody can disables the old-file check of the patch we could use all further download version patches on your cracked versions.

There is no way of getting around it, the file heirarchy is different for the fileplanet one. Therefor the patch looks for this.


My bet is you will have to change more than those files if u want to run that patch.

The file structur seems to be the same because the first file the patch for the download version complaint about is the missionengine.dll that means that alle files wich were checked before are idetically and it is very logiacally that only those 3 files wich includes StarForce are different.

But the alorithm in the patch wich checks the old files is very complex every attempt of mine to disable it lead to that it complains about anim.act wich will be accepted normally.

So can anybody please upload those 3 files of the download version?

Hi karlmueller,

If that update is based on the usual .RTPatch mechanism then there's absolutely no way of making it update files that are different from what it expects. The reason for this is how the differences between the original and updated files is stored in the patch.

So can anybody please upload those 3 files of the download version?

OK, I have tried this out now. Here is the result:

1. It is possible to convert the retail version to the download version by swapping five files:

missionengine.dll
simdata.dll
sh3.dll
sh3.exe
utils.dll

2. The Problem is that the so generated download-version includes a kind of StarForce wich wants to be activated online with a serial number (the retail serial dosn't work). So it is impossible to run those download-version if you don't have a online version key and of course you won't have one if you don't have bought the download version. The one and only solution would be a keygen for this download version but firstly I don't think that it is possible to do keygen for starforce and secondly this is against the board rules.

So in the end there is no sense in converting retails to download-versions!!!

Lets hope that RELOADED will release a working crack soon!!!
