Why do people recomend 1x read speed?

Why do people recomend 1x read speed when you make an image?...its takes so long......

well maybe the image made is more accurate?most people say this but i don't believe anything...i put max speed and the result is...great...depends on the protection man though.on securom you have to put 1x

Its in part a rumor and in part truth.

The rumor part is that it gives a better image, thats bs because the drives of now are perfectly capable of reading discs at higher rates of speed. Some probably perform better at faster speeds depending on how they are actually built.


The truth part is, if you have a scratched or dirty disc then slower speeds are less likely to skip over the data or read it incorrectly.


So pretty much all you have to do is make sure your original discs are clean and unscratched and you can read at higher rates of speed with too much worries. Now if you have a problem with a particular disc, you can try slower speeds to get a more accurate read.

tyler yeah but i think the drive has s9ome part don't you think?my plextor cd-r can read anything at any speed haven't got any problems but when i ry to read from dvd-r it's much more slower and error occure all the time

With dvdr your more than likely experiancing a read speed block. Almost all (if not all) drives have them. They will only allow you to read dvd's at a certain speed, usually 2-4x and no faster. I have a firmware hack for both my dvd drives that disables the read speed on dvdr.

well i meant that the cd drive has some part in creating an image(the god damn keyboard need batteries!!!it doesn't write)
