Quick Starforce 3 question

If a game uses Starforce 3 protection, does the game have to be installed from the original in order for the crack to work?

depends if the installer is protected doesnt it
think next time

and if the games installed either from a backup (from whichever source), copying the crack in will make it work, just like copying a crack for a securom, tages, safedisc works

But a crack will only work if there aren't further CD checks through the game, which Tages often has, unless the crack actually writes over the disc check with null data. i.e The XIII fix. I don't know much about Starforce, which is clear, but it seems like the end of back-ups, but hopefully not NOCD cracks. Also, this regional variation makes buying games difficult. I want to buy Toca Race Driver 2 this Friday, but am not sure whether the UK version uses Starforce or not. I know at least one version is not Starforce, as COPYBASE, a German site has this down as SucuRom V5. Whether this is the German version of the game or not I don't know. Also, they must be a bit dodgy, as the game is not released in Europe yet (To my knowledge). I reckon the games companies know a lot of users don't like Starforce, so mix protections in the hope that thay will confuse us.

1.XIII fix did NOT write over the disc check will null data
2.a nocd crack is simply an extra patch to the initial crack (a fixed exe), so if a crack exists a no-cd can be made from it
3. toca 2 demo uses sf3, so you can bet final regardless of regional varation = sf3
4. you really need to go research

I really need to research what? That's the point of Forums like this isn't it? So people can ask about problems they're having regarding game protections. If we all knew everything, then there would be no point in having these Forums. Of course I'm no expert on Starforce, but then again neither are you or anyone else, otherwise there would be a solution to all these Starforce protected games. That's the reason for the lack of new links, because anything decent from this moment in seems to be using SF3. The cracks that are available don't work either (Certainly the Gangland or Trackmania ones). YOU'RE the one claiming that everything can be cracked, but I can't see it happening.

sure it aint happening instantly, but it will happen, as for the links appearing, that really is gcw's problem, sf3 has been cracked, that much has been proven.. what i meant by the research thing is that you cited xiii wrote null data in the cdchecks, which it doesnt, so yet again you've cited **** that you havent researched,
had you have researched you would also have found out that damn near every sf3 game is DIFFERENT, so it takes time to crack, unlike near generic protections like safedisc/securom which wouldnt have explained the reason as why the cracks arent instantly appearing

nice question. i think it isn't so (the cracks which are working, work for everyone). i think there are different parts in sf3 protection for every game, but not for every cd?

Nice conclusion, ey? Maybe we're not almighty super-hardore-reversing crackers, but I pretty sure that TippeX knows a lot more than most others here.

The crack for trackmania v1.0 works and I am far into the game. It is really fun. I am sure that SF3 will be cracked, but it will have to become more common before the crackers really think it's worth all the trouble. When they start defeating the protection for real, it probably won't stand a chance.

the point was that if you knew how to crack 1 securom/safedisc game, you knew how to crack ALL securom/safedisc games. (Ever wondered why cracks are released on the same day as the game?)

This reasoning doesn't really apply to SF games (at least not right now), which is why it takes a lot more time to crack because someone has to sit down and start the cracking process all over.
