Backups and lens

I have a version 7 PS2 with the no solder mod and swap magic and everytime I try playing my backups most of the backups always lag. But when I play with the originals it works without any problems. This problem is only happening with my dvd backups all the cdr backups work perfectly. I tried the same backups on a friends ps2 and they worked on his. So i was just wondering if there is any way to fix it and if it could be my lens.
Thanks

definitely has the charictaristics of a dirty laser, or it may be ready to give out. Try Bighap's suggestion and try cleaning it, and see if you get any results.

Im using verbatim dvdr's. I think it could be the brand because I tried a friends Kingdom hearts thats burned on a Maxell dvdr and it worked. Ill also give cleaning it a try.

Although Verbatim recommended by lots of people it's a matter of what yr own ps2 will play. Steer clear of inkjet printable verbatims an try something wiv a darker surface like dvd master or traxdata an definitely give a really good clean with laser head cleaner. Makes all the difference

Hi guys! I have the same problem. I'm using Traxdata dvd-r, mastered with a Toshiba SD-R5002. I also tried to clean the lense with a DVD lense Cleaner, but it didn't help. I have an SCPH-30004 PS2 with a Messiah 2 installed on it. Before I hade a NEO 2.2 modchip. I heard that this kind of modchip can ruin your lenses. is it true?

Ok, thanks. But could be this the reason why my ps2 won't read any dvd backup?
